What is the CIPLE?
CIPLE stands for “Certificado Inicial de Português Língua Estrangeira” and it is the A2 level official exam of Portuguese for foreigners. This exam can be taken in Portugal and abroad.
Many take it for professional or educational reasons, but most students that currently take this exam do it to achieve Portuguese citizenship or to get permanent residency in Portugal.
An A2 official language certificate in Portuguese is a requirement in many of these cases.
The advantage of taking the CIPLE, is that the results are valid for life, while many other certificates are only valid for 2 years.

Who is this course for?
The course “Get ready for the CIPLE exam” is aimed at students that are interested in taking the A2 CIPLE exam. Since it is fully explained in English, it can be taken by total beginners, by students that are already studying Portuguese or even those that are about to take the exam.

The course “Get ready for the CIPLE exam” is a self-paced course packed with videos, audios, downloadable sheets, and exercises/quizzes for you to test your A2 knowledge.
We explain each typology of question of the CIPLE, while giving you extra exercises and a detailed breakdown of each answer.
The course is divided in 7 units:

- The essential about the CIPLE exam;
- Reading comprehension CIPLE prep;
- Writing CIPLE prep;
- Oral comprehension CIPLE prep;
- Oral production and interaction CIPLE prep;
- Final considerations.
How long will it take me to finish the course?
This is a self-paced course, rich in essential information, therefore you shouldn’t rush through it.
The course has 40 videos, with a total length of about 280 minutes.
In the Oral Comprehension unit you have 14 audios.
Depending on your goals, you can watch it at a faster, or a slower speed. We recommend you take notes, pause the videos, and digest the information, so you can put it in practice. One month is a good time frame to have as a reference.

This course is a true game-changer for any student considering taking the A2 CIPLE exam.
In the past, most students would take the exam without knowing anything about it. Based on our unique knowledge, we decided to create this course to fill in the gap, to make sure that students know the ins and outs of the exam and what to expect. We want to empower students with the tools to simplify the CIPLE and improve their ability to score well.
Is this an A2 course in Portuguese?
No, it is not. The goal of this course is not to teach you the A2 curriculum or grammar. While we cover in detail A2 topics and translate all Portuguese texts and vocabulary to English, it is done in an exam-oriented way to help you familiarize with what you need to know for the exam.
